Summary

The newly formed Daisy St. group worked on beautifying the Newhall Gardens by planting shrubs and perennials in the common spaces of the property, and improving Daisy St. by planting two trees in the curb strip. The group currently consists mostly of residents of the Newhall Gardens, a senior living center, but the plan is to expand the group to work with other residents along Daisy St. Despite the difficulties associated with being a newly formed group, much was accomplished over the summer. Two planting beds, full of shrubs and perennials were created, and other existing beds were maintained, weeded, and watered. Perhaps the crowing achievement of the group was the planting of two trees, along with some help from high school summer campers, in the curb strip along Daisy St. Going forward the group hopes to plant more trees along the street and in the common areas of the gardens.
