2016 Greenspace Report

The group worked on the intersection of Quinnipiac Ave and Eastern St. this year. The work can be challenging as the intersection is quite busy and every year there are a few traffic accidents. There is also a bus stop at the site during the school year. Another difficulty is the continued illegal dumping and high rate of illicit activity at night. The goal of the group is to mitigate these issues through physical improvement of the space and community involvement. One project planned for the sit is the creation of a path to connect the bus stop to the sidewalk halfway down Eastern St. Currently, to get to the bus stop, children have to walk in the road, which is quite dangerous as people drive very fast down the street. This year the group focused mainly on stewardship, putting down mulch, replacing perennials, and planting a few more shrubs.
