2008 Greenspace Report

This site first became a Community Greenspace site in 2001, and the group worked primarily on front yard and curb strip plantings for their first two years of involvement with the program. In 2003 the group took on the recovery of a mid-block vacant lot located at 101-103 Read Street. The group has struggled to garner community participation in recent years, but Mr. Johnson, an original planting group member who lives across the street, continues to maintain the lot. This year, one workday was held where Mr. Johnson and URI staff cleared out weeds, maintained the existing beds, and planted 4 new shrubs along the fence.
