2012 Greenspace Report

This year was the Upper Westville Community Park Group's second year as a Greenspace group. The group was eager to get started at the beginning of the summer and quickly came together to do a park clean-up. Early on they picked up trash and weeded the beds from last year's plantings. The main events of the summer kicked off in June and involved the installation of the benches in the park. Group members came out to hand mix and pour concrete to make bases for the benches that they had successfully raised money to purchase. With the concrete poured, the benches were then installed to add a great sitting space to the park for neighbors to sit and wait for the bus or to relax and view the wonderful plantings. Following this infrastructure work, the group decided to create a new bed along Ray Road which previously lacked plantings. This new bed was a wonderful addition to the park and seems to complete the park. This work brought out children and adults alike who enjoyed working together and seeing the park develop. Without fail, every workday people would drive by, roll down their windows, and thank the group members for creating the beautiful space.
