Come learn about “de-vining” and hear from URI’s Associate Director and natural areas management expert, Chris Ozyck. During the winter months, URI staff and volunteers remove invasive plants and do some “De-Vining” (cutting invasive vines) to make room for native trees and plants to thrive.

URI spends a lot of energy in planting new trees. Invasive plants put existing trees, which are important carbon sinks at risk. Over the past several years, Chris Ozyck has helped to organize local groups in combatting this threat to our urban canopy. Come learn about the importance of this work and the different strategies and come back the following week to get some hands-on experience “de-vining” with URI.

The talk is 10-11 am. Snacks and hot beverages will be served 10am-2pm.
