Summary

Having planted more than 18 trees over the first year of their work, the Believe in Me group began this season with some stewardship to keep previous plantings beautiful and inviting. 8 active volunteers joined the regular workday and have done an impressive job of balancing a variety of projects throughout the neighborhood. All newly planted trees have been mulched and 70 or more perennials were added around trees to improve the aesthetics. A handful of young volunteer helped replace an unhealthy dogwood planted last year. Argyle Street today is a beautiful greenspace meant for both the people working at Believe in Me Corporation and the community at large to enjoy. Moreover, volunteers worked long hours, transforming the brick walkway on Dixwell to a flower garden by planting dazzling array of flowers. Neighbors also worked on beautifying their front yard with flowering plants that bring even more color to the neighborhood and ensure a beautiful display that blooms into the fall.The group topped off the season by planting 2 flowering Dogwood on Dixwell Avenue. The Believe in Me Group not only beautified their property, but also build community as neighbors laughed and joked while mixing compost, soil, and planting flowers.
