Summary
In its first two years, Believe in me planted over twenty trees. The group has completely transformed their community and this summer the goal of Believe in Me focused on taking care of previously planted trees as well as planting five new trees. The group spent the first few workdays focusing on stewardship. This consisted of watering trees and perennials, remulching, and pruning. The group then planted four Sweetgum trees along Dixwell Avenue and one Cherry tree at the corner of Shelton and Argyle. Believe in Me topped off the season by finishing two flower beds. The beds are now filled with Roses, Hydrangeas, and Coreopsis. This is a dynamic group, filled with young, high-energy volunteers. Ten to fifteen teens showed up each workday in order to help the group fulfill it's goal of tree and perennial planting and by the end of the season, their corner of Dixwell looked more beautiful than ever.
