Summary
MECHANIC STREET ARBORETUM is a neighborhood park maintained by East Rock community members, primarily Mechanic Street residents. Inspiration for this site originated from Park on Nash, a neighboring greenspace on which the Arboretum's primary community members first worked. Since the Arboretum project started roughly eight years ago, the site has evolved from a vacant lot into a beautiful greenspace site. All species planted within it by Greenspace are native to Connecticut, making the arboretum an excellent teaching tool for interested individuals and school children. This year the group added new native species, cleared paths, and began erecting a grape arbor.
