Mulching the Vision Trail

Summary

The community of Oyster Point came together for another great year of stewardship and community visioning - our big goal of the season being the reconnection of the Vision Trail at Bayview Park. We started the season at the beachside greenspace where mountains of stickyweed were removed, unveiling the beautiful bayberry and beach plum bushes the site has to offer. After mulching and planting our new additions (New Jersey Tea plants) at the beach site, we moved on to Bayview Park. We made sure to free last year’s planting (a cedar) from bittersweet vines. After clearing the fence of vines as well, the crew was excited to plan out the trail. We trimmed any and all branches that were in the way and laid them down along the path to create a nice outline with logs. After getting approval from the city to move forward with the trail re-connection, we laid over 10 yards of wood chips to make the trail official. And with that, Oyster Point’s big goal of completing the Bayview Park trail came to a reality!
