Summary
Neighborhood volunteers created the Park on Nash by transforming a formerly vacant lot in the middle of Nash street. This abandoned lot had remained vacant for decades following a house fire in the 1970's. The community has transformed the open space into a beautifully diverse greenspace. This site has native mountain laurels, aromatic perennials, a characteristic Connecticut rock wall, majestic shade trees, a covered bench, gazebo and even a brick fireplace. This summer's activities added a splash of color along the front of the greenspace with native perennials and shrubs designed to flower across the seasons. In addition, this community continues to hold its well-loved and well-attended barbeques for Labor Day and Independence Day. The efforts of the community to maintain stewardship over this beautiful greenspace are recognized and appreciated by all, making the Park on Nash an incredibly valuable asset to the neighborhood.
