Summary

Over the summers of 1999, 2000, 2001, & 2002, a group of volunteers calling themselves the Nash Street Neighbors worked together to transform trash-filled vacant lot on their block into a neighborhood park. Thanks to their vision, diligent work, and craftsmanship, a lush oasis is now tucked away on Nash Street, halfway between Eagle and Lawrence. The park includes stone benches, a large barbecue, a rain garden, a homemade water fountain for kids to play in in the summer, and a gazeebo with a picnic bench. In the park, visitors can find sun, shade, and everything in between. Every summer, residents held potluck barbecues on Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day. Before each event they typically arrange cleanups to pull weeds and make sure the park is trash-free. Other volunteers mow the lawn and keep the trees and shrubs pruned back. Thanks to their efforts, the park remains a great place to relax and an asset to the community.
