Summary

PARK ON NASH (EMERITUS), an amazingly beautiful and well-maintained community park provides neighbors with shade, beauty and fun for around 10 years. It is hard to imagine this lovely park used to be a neglected vacant lot full with trash and debris. Under the leadership of Ron, Don, Seth and Drew, the Park on Nash group successfully maintain stewardship over this wonderful green space, making the park an incredibly valuable asset to the neighborhood. Thanks to their strong organization and determination, every Saturday morning, a handful of neighbors will come together for stewardship and planting in the park. Participants worked long hours, transforming the rocky, weedy, and uninviting pond area into a rock garden with topsoil, huge rocks, and moisture loving plants. The rock garden is filled with graceful flowers like purple gay feathers, jacob's ladder and iris. Recycled slates were used to build a naturally beautiful walkway around the rock garden which provides lots of fun to children. The group also cleaned up the large piles of debris in the back of the park and planted evergreen pacasandra as the ground cover. More project highlights included an enhanced stone dust path and a flowerbed with colorful plantings.
