2017 Greenspace Report
This year Shepard Street set back to work cleaning up and expanding the Oasis farther back into the vacant lot. Led by Jody Kelly, the Shepard Street group worked actively to weed and re mulch the bulk of the Oasis, and set goals to plant evergreen trees back in front of the rock wall by the end of the year. We met all of our goals, and even managed to cover more of the Oasis in mulch than we previously planned, thanks to one weekend of help from the Common Ground High School students. We had great participation from various neighbors, including some kids who came running most times they saw us working. The vacant lot now has much more room in the back to fill with more perennials, infrastructure, or trees if they so choose.
