Summary

This a highly dedicated group that comes out to every workday excited to work and with a smile on their faces. There are several high school students who come to each workday and infuse a wonderful sense of fresh energy into the work. The group focuses on the bed on Bradley St. between William St. and Lyon St. as well as those three streetscapes. The group has done tremendous work in aesthetically and ecologically improving the neighborhood character. This year, the group focused on maintaining, stewarding, and adding plants to the perennial bed on Bradley St. as well as planting a cherry tree in that space. They created a rosebush border along the opening in the fence that leads to the highway overpass. They also planted two trees – 1 cherry and 1 dogwood – on Lyon St. One of the community members was so excited and grateful about the trees that she called to have the New Haven Independent write an article about the group and its work. This summer, the newspaper has written two separate articles about this group!
