Summary
Having already turned a vacant patch of land into a postage-stamp corner garden and planted their street full of decorative crabapples and flowering cherries, the Little Nash group began this season with some stewardship to keep these plantings beautiful and inviting. First, student volunteers from Hopkins School came to help weed and prune back the Little Nash garden at the corner of Nash and Edwards; then, volunteers from the block weeded and spread wood chips at the bases of the trees they planted. Having done all this, the group turned its attention to the intersection of Nash and Lawrence, where a few of them had already planted tulips in a cluster of curb-strip planting beds. With URI's assistance, this summer they weeded, mulched, and filled out these beds with perennials to add year-round beauty. Today the group can boast yet another addition to their lush and welcoming streetscape.
