Summary
Troup Group entered its 10th year as a Greenspace group this summer. They spent the beginning of the summer devoting their time to stewardship. They weeded and mulched around all of the trees planted last year as well as in the vacant lot that they had previously worked in. They also pruned several trees on the street which they noticed were being damaged by cars or had limbs hanging too low over the sidewalks. From here, energy built as the group embarked on its mission to work on a lead remediation project at a neighbor's house. This project included mulching and planting hostas under an existing tree and creating a cobblestone planting bed in her drip zone. This group was excited to work on this project knowing that it helps to protect children and others from the potentially dangerous effects of exposure to lead. This project brought the group to the end of the summer and left them motivated and excited about what next year could potentially bring.
