2015 Greenspace Report

This group worked hard this summer to beautify their neighborhood. In 2014, the group struggled with participation so this season began with animated flyering. Momentum built as people saw progress on the street and three of the five trees we planted resulted from people stopping by the work site, complementing the group on their efforts, and asking how they could get a tree for their curbstrip. Ultimately people were proud of the work they did and often workdays included trash pick-up and sweeping as an effort to show ownership over the street.

2015 Accomplishments

• 5 trees planted ((3) kwanzan cherry, (1) snowdrift crabapple, (1) red oak. )
• 42 perennials planted ( (6) coreopsis, (6) black eyed susans, (8) shasta daisies, (4) catmint, (7) daylilies, (8) hosts, (2) vinca, (1) coral bell)
• 2.0 yards compost spread
• 4.0 yards mulch spread
• 8 events
• 26 volunteers
• 97 volunteer hours
