Summary
In its second year as a greenspace site, the Westville Community Nursery School (WCNS) group worked diligently throughout the summer to beautify, revitalize, and maintain the streetscape on Tour Avenue in Westville. Over the course of the summer, the group successfully organized six community volunteer work days – working to weed, plant perennials, water, and care for the seven street trees that had been planted the previous year. The group’s work has helped to foster community-based stewardship and forestry; and has promoted hands-on environmental education for both adults and children. Neighbors showed increased interest and appreciation for the work of the group throughout the summer – and future work may offer the opportunity of further increasing neighborhood engagement.
