2019 Greenspace Report

In their inaugural year, the founders of the Winthrop Daylight Project had one goal: to spark neighborhood pride on Winthrop Avenue through a beautiful streetscape. To achieve this goal, the group met five times to clear trash, fill planters with perennial flowers, and swap ideas with neighbors about the beautification of Winthrop Avenue. In the 2019 season, the Daylight Project set a foundation for future greening efforts by performing thorough outreach and completing a preliminary planting plan. This is just the beginning, says group leader Joyce Joseph. In future years, the group will brainstorm ways to more enduringly affect the landscape of Winthrop Street.
