Summary
Leading by two passionate bike riders Aaron Goode and Lisa Fernandez, Friends of Farmington Canal Group are committed to improve the athletics and safety of the bike trail during this hot but meaningful summer. Focusing on the bike path section between Thompson and Starr Street, a group of five frequent bike trail users, started their season by a thorough cleanup of the trail and the removal of undesirable plants and stumps. SCA crew, a group of twelve young nature conservation interns start working with the group since July. This enthusiastic young group did impressive job of balancing a variety of projects throughout the Trail. Two beautiful pin oaks were planted to enhance the view of the trail and a stone dust path was created to provide walkways for pedestrians and runners. More than 30 trees along the trail got weeded and mulched. This artistic young group also transformed a wall full with moss to an amazing art piece. The wall painting featured two lovely handprint trees with palm prints from all SCA crew members and neighbors.
