Friends Of Farmington Canal

2017 Greenspace Report

The Learning Corridor is a section of the Farmington Canal trail that is becoming a neighborhood hub for health and environmental stewardship. This was the fourth year as a Greenspace and second year as an Urban Oasis for the group. The group accomplished their goals in planting the pillars at the entrance of the park, completing the triangle bed at the corner of Hazel and Shelton, adding native plants to the Urban Oasis, mulching, and completing a jogging path. Moreover, they achieved their goal of engaging youth from the neighborhood in the project, demonstrating that Newhallville youth are positive contributors to their environment. Common Ground high school students also participated twice to improve the Oasis, putting in some much-appreciated hours.
