Summary
Perhaps one of the most inspiring acres of land in New Haven (besides all the other wonderful Greenspace sites!), the beautiful Botanical Garden of Healing is more than a garden; it’s a story. A story of recovery, of strength, and of community. Yes, it looks pretty, but its importance is much deeper than aesthetics. It is a place one can visit when they lose someone close to them to gun violence, and they can finally feel at peace after such a traumatic event. Even if you haven’t lost anyone to gun violence, you cannot help but feel the power of the site as you walk along the trail of names, or connect with the statue beside the trail. This summer was spent beautifying the Tree of Life, and adding more perennials and mulch to ensure the pollinators and existing plants continue to survive.
