2019 Greenspace Report

Friends of Peat Meadow Gardens is a new Greenspace group this year, and they got off to a great start despite major challenges! The group’s main focus was to improve the area close to the intersection of Forbes Avenue and Peat Meadow Road, because they recognized that illegal dumping was a huge issue there. Their hope was to create a Community Greenspace to encourage environmental restoration, stewardship, and regular maintenance in their neighborhood. They collaborated with the City of New Haven to embark on this venture. By the end of their first Greenspace season, they had successfully planted three beautiful trees surrounded by perennials!

2019 Accomplishments

  • 3 trees planted (saucer magnolia (x1); crabapple (x2))
