2013 Greenspace Report

The Winthrop Sunshine Planters continued with their goal of bringing beautiful trees to Winthrop Street in New Haven. Following a banner first year of 16 trees planted and three lead yard remediations completed, the group managed to plant three trees on the streetscape, all to be maintained by local residents. With the help of local kids from the street, they managed to plant a local 'peace tree' in honor of local fallen victims to gun violence. The group has plans to move up and down the block in the years to come, bringing a new sense of community and color to Winthrop and Percival.
