Outdoor Workshop on De-Vining

Event time
Friday, February 14, 2025 - 12:00pm
Location:
West River Memorial Park
81 Boston Post Rd.
West Haven, CT
This 2-hour hands-on workshop will be led by URI’s Associate Director Chris Ozyck to identify, tag, & de-vine native plants. The training will be hosted in West River Memorial Park. Meet at 81 Boston Post Rd, West Haven (across from Dairy Queen). Dress warmly and in clothes that can get muddy.
These skills are crucial to protecting existing natural areas, trees, and understory, which are threatened by invasive plants. This work is important because these native trees store carbon, provide crucial wildlife habitat and food, help reduce the urban heat island effect, and protect our waterways and air quality.
