Summary
The West River Watershed Coalition has worked over the years to create an incredible network of trails through the West Rock area. This year, the West River Watershed Coalition partnered with URI to advance this trail work in a new way. The portion of the trail that was worked on this year runs along the West River, starting at the Botanical Garden of Healing Dedicated to the Victims of Gun Violence. To start the summer off, a community meeting was hosted for residents who live in front of this portion of the trail. Then, a team worked together to enhance the trail. Work included removing large stands of knotweed to open up access to the river, clearing paths through the woods, and mulching the trail. This work occurred in partnership with an awesome youth team from The Shack.
