Summary
The Arch Street Community Greenspace Group has been part of the Greenspace program for the past 14 years. This was the group's fifth year with the Emeritus status. One of the gems of the Greenspace program, the park on Arch Street was created on three adjacent vacant lots. There are beautiful birch trees well-established on one side of the park and a lovely grassy knoll on the other. In the center of the park is a long stone path lined with several species of shrubs including spirea. The path leads to a shaded quiet seating area in the back of the park. Bordering the front of the park stands an impressive undulating iron fence on which the names of outstanding community volunteers are inscribed. In the back of the park, a three-bin compost system was set up in order to compost organic waste from park maintenance. Finally, street trees were planted early in the group's participation in the Greenspace program.
