Summary
Fairlawn planters formed in June 2016, primarily to beautify the curb strip along Ella T. Grasso Boulevard between Whalley Ave and Anita Street. The group was also motivated by the opportunity for front yard lead remediation work. Last year, the group planted two curb strip areas with a variety of perennials, they planted a Hawthorne tree on a different curb strip area, and they implemented a redesign plan for one of the group’s front yard after lead testing. The main success of the group this season was completion of another lead remediation front yard site. The final product came out really nicely! Other successes included further stewardship work along the Ella T. Grasso curb strip, including weeding, mulching, pruning, and brickwork.
