Summary
The Boys and Girls Club started late this summer and brought energy and enthusiasm to finish out the summer planting season. Although coordinated by Seth Poole, Program Director, the children aged between 10 and 13 years old actively engaged in planning and planting. The kids started out their work by walking around their block and talking with neighbors about tree planting. This initial outreach event was followed by planting a beautiful pin oak for their neighbor and a Leyland Cypress in Bayview Park with the Oyster Point Greenspace Group. The kids showed an enthusiasm for nature and learning about trees, and brought energy and commitment to beautifying their community and the City of New Haven.
