Summary
The Bradley Street Pocket Park is a new Greenspace group that is transforming a former dumping ground into a mini park. Located by the corner of Bradley Street and State Street, the site connects to a previous Greenspace project for street beautification. Architects at Atelier Cho Thompson are also residents of the street and have helped stimulate the group’s vision for the space and from that, developed a design for the pocket park. However, it is a tough site: trees growing by the highway provide thick shade and the soil is littered with fragments of trash and copious amounts of rock. Nonetheless, the group cleaned out the area and laid the foundation for the park by putting down groundcover and adding key plantings to cover the chain link fence. After a successful first summer season, the group will continue building on the existing work into the fall, and eventually open up this hidden gem for the public to enjoy.
