Summary

Mulberry Jam, or “The Bradley St. Pocket Park” is a downtown group dedicated to transforming a section of land next to the Bradley St. bike co-op (owned by group leader John Martin). The site is partially fenced in (that part owned by DOT) and partially abuts the street (that part owned by the city). Ming Thompson is a local architect who has helped the group come up with a master plan to remove DOT fencing and put in a large natural stone bench to create an inviting and accessible green urban enclave. The group is excited for this master plan to manifest, until then the work has been/will be primarily focused on maintenance and light planting. John’s bike co-op is next door and he keeps an eye on the place while providing water and help. This year, planting a series of hostas (10) were exciting because they cover the base of the chainlink fence on the left of the site. Additionally, group members were happy to supplement existing liriope and coral bells, which historically thrive on the site.
