Summary

From Orange to State, Bradley Street is a veritable arboretum. Hundred-year-old oaks tower above recently planted callery pear and kwanzan cherry trees; like sentinels, a couple dogwoods preside over the corner with State Street; and here and there a pin oak, elm, and linden stand ready to rise to the overstory. The only drawback is that many of these trees had reached the stage in their lives where they were large enough to crowd a narrow sidewalk, but not yet tall enough to stay above cars, trucks, and people's heads. Fortunately, this was not for long. Bradley Street played host to this year's URI tree pruning workshop. Armed with this knowledge, volunteers got to work pruning the lower branches of their trees, sparing them from vehicular damage and sparing pedestrians from having to duck.
