Summary
This summer was CSNA's second year in existence. Instead of working in the park this year, the group decided to tackle the work of front yard lead remediation. After doing outreach along Clifton Avenue between Grand and Grafton, interested families were identified, their yards tested, and a remediation plan made. By the end of the summer, the group succeeded in testing 4 properties and remediating 3 of those. The group excavated contaminated soil, planted new shrubs and perennials, and brought in new topsoil and a durable cover of either mulch or peastone. The group enjoyed the opportunity to get together weekly and share dinner after each workday while making their yards safe for their children.
