Summary
Following a 2015 season of extensive tree planting, Chatham Square Association focused on stewardship and maintenance this season. The group undertook the task of refurbishing a number of the corner planting boxes, adding compost, mulch and new perennials. This effort has added significant visual benefit to the neighborhood, and helps to set off the wonderful tree-lined streetscape that was established in 2015. The Group finished the year by planting a memorial Morton Elm on the corner of Downing and Grafton. This final installation was a great capstone to the season, and generated some new interest on the final day. The tree is also a very welcome addition, promising to contribute future shade and visual appeal to a previously empty streetscape.
