Summary
The Exchange Street/Fair Haven Neighbors in Action group had a hugely productive and fun-filled fourth season working to beautify their neighborhood and streetscape. This summer the group planted a total of 9 trees (5 along the street and 4 in front yards), did lead remediation and landscape work in 4 front yards, hosted a gardening for bird habitat workshop, cleaned up trash, maintained gardens, and planted a tree during the festive Exchange Street block party that occurred between Ferry and East Pearl Streets in late June. Residents east of Ferry Street brought new energy to the group and helped bring about an exciting new collaboration between neighbors. This dedicated group worked in the rain, removed concrete to make two new tree pits, and transformed the street every Tuesday night into something of a street party with kids playing, planting and watering gardens, while neighbors worked together and shared resources to accomplish common goals.
