Summary

The Fairmont Park Greenspace Group worked consistently this year throughout the summer to beautify, revitalize, and maintain the southeastern corner of the park. Over the course of the summer, the group successfully organized nine community volunteer work days – working to weed and construct a berm boarder of wood chips around the butterfly garden and rectangular herb garden. The group also added woodchips around trees that had been planted in previous years. Additionally, through coordination with URI and the Parks Department, the group requested and succeeded in having the Parks Department help to clear invasive species and overgrown areas in the southeast corner of the park – providing opportunities for the space moving forward.
