Summary

The Friends of Fairmont Park are committed to environmental stewardship and restoration in Fairmont Park, a large natural area consisting mostly of forest with a few small trails. Under Sylvia’s leadership, volunteers removed the many invasive plants that have taken root in the forest, including Norway Maples, burning bush, and Tree of Heaven. Through the removal of these invasives, the group’s long-term goal is to create a healthy understory of native plants in the park. At the edges of the park, the group also maintains planters filled with native flowers and shrubs.
