Summary
If you were to have walked down 4th Street in between Greenwich and Howard from 6:00-8:00 on any given Thursday this past summer, you would find yourself surrounded by a group of vibrant, committed, and radiant children. Each child would either be wearing a safety vest, or holding a shovel, or shoveling, or getting a tree off of a truck, or riding their bikes, or watering, or playing with a dog, or drawing with chalk, or eating candy, or clipping a wire tree basket, or signing in. The group’s (but mostly the kids’!) vivacity made it possible to plant eight trees and over 64 perennial plants along their block this year. In doing so, they turned a barren strip of grass and trash into a now-flourishing tree line that will nourish and beautify their community for years to come!
