Goatville Food Forest

2025 Greenspace Report

This was the Goatville Food Forest’s inaugural season and it went off with a bang! The group leader, Brandon, worked hard to recruit volunteers and create a strong community of volunteers from the neighborhood. At the start this area was full of knot weed and tree of heaven, and by the end there were 7 new fruiting trees and 7 different shrubs in the new food forest. They also created a gravel path through what used to be a knotweed forest. Folks using the dog park noticed the groups hard work, they received lots of compliments and gratitude throughout the summer. The Food Forest has already become an important part of the neighborhood.

2025 Accomplishments

• 7 trees planted (1 prairie fire crab apple, 1 sargent crab apple, 1 American persimmon, 2 multi stemmed service berries, 2 paw paw trees )
• 9 shrubs planted ( 3 witch hazel, 3 elderberry, 3 blueberry)
• 1.0 yards compost spread
• 1.0 yards mulch spread
• 10 events
• 32 volunteers
• 125 volunteer hours
