Summary
Monitor Square Park is a longstanding group and they’ve truly transformed the park over their many years of restoration and stewardship. The park is triangular in shape located between Chapel Street–Winthrop Avenue and Derby Avenue, which is an inviting, nice spot for neighbors to walk their dogs and enjoy beautiful flower gardens. This is the 15th year of the greenspace program with URI. John and Robin are such dedicated volunteers. This summer they continued to steward the park by watering, weeding, rebuilding donuts around trees planted in the past every Saturday from 8-10 am. John usually did watering, trash picking, mulching, rebuilding donuts around the trees whereas Robin dedicated herself to weed the garden and mulch it. In addition to stewardship, they planted two trees (1 Crabapple and 1 Kentucky Coffee tree) with John’s kids.
