Summary
The Truman Street Clean Green Project focused mostly on stewardship activities this season- weeding, watering, and mulching perennial beds, weeding the stone-dust pathways, and maintaining the fence line around the perimeter of the garden. Additional activities involved the creation of a new perennial bed in the Southwest corner of the greenspace, mulching fruit trees, and continued perennial plantings in established bed space. Workdays often included observation exercises which encourage the youth volunteers to slow down to nature’s pace, explore the garden with wide eyes, and ask questions. The season closed with an end-of-summer barbecue party in the garden that brought dozens of community members into the garden.
