Summary
West River Memorial Park started its season with a recognition from the National Audubon as an Important Bird Area. In a ceremony attended by state and local politicians, the conservation efforts of the Urban Resources Initiative and the West River Memorial Park community were appreciated and applauded. Work this year in the Oasis focused primarily on removing invasive plant material and defining the space more fully with the addition of trees and shrubs at the back and entrance. The interns from Common Ground High School took the lead, providing water, planting, and removal throughout the month of July.
