Summary
This year marked the fusing of the Russo Park and Wooster Square Greenspace groups into one, all-inclusive effort. The group focused the majority of its energy on stewardship of Russo Park, the site of the Wooster Square Farmers' Market and a gem of the Wooster Square neighborhood enjoyed by visitors from all over New Haven. The group restored the area by weeding and mulching the established flowerbeds. In addition, the group added to the work done last year in the planting bed at the corner of Olive and Court Streets. The new plants brought a dizzying array of color to the site, prompting immediate reaction and praise from passersby. In addition, work was done to prepare for the future Wooster Square Dog Park that will be constructed along Union Street near Chapel. The group has done an impressive job of balancing a variety of projects throughout the community, and continues to have a noticeable impact on the historic Wooster Square neighborhood.
