Summary

In its inaugural year, the Blake Street Pocket Park group has spiritedly and inspirationally worked to build community and transform a vacant lot into a revitalized public space. The group’s efforts included vibrant resiliency-themed mural painting, weeding and clearing of invasive species and overgrown areas, pruning trees, laying down wood chips and a walking path, and planting a tree and shrubs. Children and adults of all ages have chipped in to help. Thanks to volunteer efforts, the park is now a place of inspiration, art, nature, peace, play, exercise, and community.
