Summary

Once an abandoned lot, a group of dedicated volunteers worked hard to transform this space into a beautiful pocket park. There are many reasons that this park stands out, including its food pantry, a standing garden that community members can use for vegetables or herbs, and a mural painted by community members. Each Saturday morning, the group can be found working throughout the space, sharing stories, and playing with Jane’s dog Daphne! This summer, the group created a new garden bed to frame the area next to the bench, removed invasive plants, mulched the existing garden beds, and added some new flowering perennials to the front of the lot. The group even created a brush pile in the back of the lot for native New Haven wildlife!
