Summary
Blockwatch #303 has worked with Community Greenspace since 2001 beautifying public spaces around Westville. The group maintains several perennial beds at Beecher Park, which surrounds the Mitchell Library as well as beds at the intersection of Fountain and Whalley, Blake and Whalley, West Rock and Whalley, and Chapel and Yale. This year the group added a new perennial bed along the east edge of the Mitchell Library. As a group with superb gardening skills, Blockwatch #303 was entrusted with raising perennial seedlings from the Battery Park Conservancy in New York City, which they have planted in a number of sites at Beecher Park. The group has developed a self-guided walking tour of the trees of Beecher Park, allowing the community to enjoy and learn about their natural surroundings.
