Summary
Once a dumping ground overgrown with weeds, under the leadership of Miss Connie Vereen Cherry Ann Park has transformed into a popular place for the neighborhood’s children to gather and play. Although 2021 did not see dramatic infrastructural improvements like 2019’s new pavilion and 2020’s new splash pad, the care the volunteers gave to the entrance garden during this summer nonetheless added new beauty to the space and made it more inviting. This summer also presented opportunities for environmental education and exploration in the park, with the kids learning how to identify some different types of trees and plants, finding worms and bugs, and learning how to plant and care for perennials.
