Summary

East Edge Gardeners is a high-capacity emeritus group that organizes well to tend the garden beds along Edgewood Mall. The group of four volunteers (Sandy, Cathy, Marion and Ray) are good friends, have been working together for long, and ensure that the mall remains clean, weeded and with pretty plantings. Sandy leads communication via email, where she shares the results of the previous week, states the plans for the next, and reports on new flowerings she saw while working her dogs (two beautiful greyhounds). This year, the group focused on the garden located at the far east end of the mall, called Mayor’s bed; and made two new plantings on the garden bed located in the corner of Edgewood and Ellsworth (the Ellsworth bed). The volunteers kept organized to water new and old plantings, and to weed individually on the days when they couldn’t meet as a group, with additional help from other neighbors and friends, as needed.
