Summary
The Friends of East Rock Park has been a Greenspace group for three years. Their work in the URI program has primarily focused on several of the park's high traffic, entrance points. This year, the group began to transform the face of East Rock Park along both Cold Spring Street and Orange Street. In an attempt to stem erosion at the entrance to College Woods, the Friends of East Rock Park, with help from their summer Youth at Work interns, redirected the flow of foot traffic with the deliberate planting of woodland trees, shrubs and perennials. This year's Greenspace work concluded with the addition of an array of color and texture around a memorial Golden Rain Tree in the center of College Woods.
