Summary
This summer, Friends of East Rock Park (FERP) volunteers held 7 volunteer events on Saturdays from 10 am – 12pm. The goal of this summer was to naturalize the area of the park along Orange street that was mostly grass. With the help of the Yale Presidential Public Service Fellows we planted 6 new trees along Orange St. The group worked to mulch the whole area and add 32 perennials and 7 shrubs. With all the new plants and mulch this section of the park has been completely transformed. The group also cut knotweed and removed other aggressive species along Betty’s Way. This incredibly dedicated group has put a lot of love and labor into their park!
